Matter, light and contrasts: a residential project in Colorado

In a private residence in Colorado, the design of the bathrooms and dressing area explores the relationship between materials, light and function through a selection of surfaces that create a coherent visual language whilst retaining their distinctive characteristics.

The project stands out for its careful combination of materials, finishes and details, in which the large Infinity porcelain stoneware slabs play a central role in defining living spaces.

Calacatta Oro: the unifying theme of the entire project

The light background of Calacatta Oro, crossed by grey veins and delicate warm hues, introduces a luminous textural element that accompanies the transition between the different functional areas. The surface is used on the long washbasin top, where it complements the wood finishes of the custom-made furniture and the metallic details of the taps, helping to create a welcoming and orderly space.

The same material extends into the shower area, fully cladding the walls and also defining the horizontal elements, from the shelves to the integrated seat. Here, porcelain stoneware becomes part of the architectural structure of the space: the continuity of the pattern and the expanse of the surfaces minimise the perception of breaks, whilst the veining follows the contours of the walls and emphasises their proportions.

Calacatta Oro is also featured in the walk-in wardrobe area, on the worktop incorporated into the bespoke furniture system, and in the kitchen area. A more subtle application, which helps to maintain continuity between the rooms and reinforce the interplay between surfaces, wood and furnishing details.

The dialogue with Royal Peacock

This predominantly light-coloured scheme is contrasted by Royal Peacock, chosen for the wall behind the freestanding bath. The surface creates a composition with a strong visual impact, which transforms the wall into a prominent architectural feature.

Two complementary interpretations of the material find balance in a design that pays close attention to proportions, the quality of detail and the relationship between aesthetics and function.
