Calacatta Viola: a surface that changes with the light

In the Kianawah Kitchen project, in which KINNDE STUDIO paid homage to the home’s 1950s spirit, every surface was chosen with an eye to how light would bring it to life. In the kitchen, the walls and joinery are deliberately understated: a minimalist choice that leaves the spotlight on the Calacatta Viola worktop, the true focal point of the space.

Against a warm white background, intense burgundy and purple veining runs through the slab with a graphic depth that lends continuous movement to the surface and captures the slanting light. It is precisely this ability to interact with natural light — revealing different nuances depending on the time of day — that makes the worktop a living, dynamic element that is never quite the same.

Crafted from a large-format slab measuring 160×320 cm, the Infinity surface extends across the worktop without any visual breaks, allowing the network of veins to flow as a single, continuous work of art.
